We have probably 3 people that are close, we just need to seal the deal.

4. What are you most looking forward to in the week ahead?

Q&A - June 25, 2012

1. How did your p-day moccasins turn out?
They are the coolest things I have ever made and probably ever will make! I was so pleased with them! I will wear them everywhere! I'll try to get a pic this week to show off next week!

2. How often do you do splits with other missionaries? Do you stay in Waverly when you do splits or go elsewhere?
It depends. Usually just once per transfer with the district leader as well as the zone leaders so total of 2 times per transfer and we switch where we go every time.

3. What was the best part of your week?
It seems like this week there were just to many things to limit it down to one thing. This was the best week of my mission so far. I hope I can say that every week from here on out!

Q&A - June 18, 2012

1. How are you??
I am doing fantastic! I feel like I'm progressing toward who I want to be and I feel like I am helping others to do the same! =)

2. What's the plan for P-Day today?
We are making authentic moccasins with a man who was baptized recently who is native american! It's going to be so awesome! I think it's probably the most anticipated p-day I've ever had!

3. Does Elder Brown come from a large family? Oldest, youngest, or somewhere in between?
Middle child of 4. I know that means there are two middle children but he is one of them!

4. What are you most looking forward to in the week ahead?
Teaching Stacy again and helping her. I'm also excited because we have planned appointments every day of the week this week!

Q&A - June 11, 2012

1. I've been wondering for awhile where your love of Superman comes from? :)
Because I was sick right when I got introduced to Smallville and watched 4 seasons in a week and ever since then I have had to try to convince myself that I am not Clark Kent waiting for my powers to come! I also really kind of enjoy the parallels to Christ.

2. What is your favorite Superman movie?
Smallville I think is the best depiction but I like the newest movie the best! Superman Returns.

3. What is your favorite Superman quote?
"You will be different, sometimes you'll feel like an outcast, but you'll never be alone." Superman says this to the boy whose name I believe is Jason, and in the movie you've just pieced together that it is his son with Lois. And then he says, "You will make my strength your own. You will see my life through your eyes, as your life will be seen through mine. The son becomes the father and the father becomes the son." Those are the last words Superman heard from his father on Krypton. Man I'm a nerd!

4. How are things going with Elder Brown?
Great! I love him!

5. What is the best thing about Elder Brown?
He doesn't sugar coat how he feels. I love that in people.

6. Do you know yet when you will get to go to Nauvoo? Uncle Bruce and Aunt Sue want us to give them a heads-up if we can so that they will know to be watching for you. :)
It will be mid August for sure if we don't go once before that!

7. How many wards are in Waverly? How big is the ward you serve in? Is it a strong ward?
It's a branch of about 80 people. pretty good size for a branch and it's growing a lot!

8. Did you get the Liahona I sent last week with the pictures from Wes & Kenzi's wedding? What did you think?
Oh man...I wish I could have been there! I hope I get to see all those people like the weekend I come home! I miss them all so much!

9. Has it been weird for you the last couple days thinking that Dad is so close to you? It sounds like he is having fun on his "Man Trip" and I've never gotten so many text messages that are pictures of meat in all my life! :)
Haha...it was a little weird the day he flew in but since then not really. I'm just glad I'm not in Des Moines right now!

10. The best thing about this week was...
Steak Dinner!!!

Monday, June 4, 2012

Q&A - June 4, 2012

1. Who is your new companion?
Elder Trevor Ronald Brown

2. Where is he from?
Logan, UT

3. Do you have anything in common with him? Tell us a little about him...
We have a lot in common actually. Athletic but played more with motorcycles and atv's. He's the companion that I've been dreaming of to end my mission with! I couldn't imagine better! He's got a lot of fire and will put some youth back in me!

4. Anxious to hear about the Lassen's baptism!
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD

 5. How many nights per week do you have to cook for yourselves and how many do you have dinner appointments?
Probably 4 days per week we have dinner appointments and the rest are by ourselves. It's about the best ratio possible because time by yourself is nice and you don't get fat from too much food!

6. What was the most significant thing you accomplished this week?
I watched 4 children of our Heavenly Father come closer to him and be baptized!

Not sure on the greenie's hometown but I will be training a new missionary! I'm very excited!

Q&A - May 7, 2012

1. The most important right off the bat - Mother's Day Skype!! We're thinking that Dad can for sure be home by 3:00 on Sunday afternoon. How does that work for you?? Although, Dad also said that if you want to just give us a time, he'll just schedule his interviews around it.
3:00 PM your time sounds great! We'll plan on that and if it changes a little bit then I will call you and tell you or text you.

2. What was the best thing you accomplished this week?
I moved a rock! =)

Q&A - April 30, 2012

1.  How is Waverly treating you?
It is awesome! I'm loving this little town already!

2.  Do you have any details yet on a Mother's Day call or Skype or whatever?
Yes, we will be skyping from the branch president's home. Let me know what time is best for you. We are done with church at 11 am your time so we are free to plan around after that!

3.  Have you met your "Waverly Family" yet?  Your "go-to" favorite family?  If so, who are they?
The Larsons are pretty awesome! I get along with them great! We do laundry over there and I play their piano and they have a son close to my age that we get along, so it's great!

4.  What was the best part of your week?
The lesson with the Lassen's was pretty awesome! I loved it!

Q&A - April 23, 2012

1. Tell us a little about where you've been transferred to. How big of an area do you cover?
We cover all of Bremer County so we cover Waverly, Shell Rock, Tripoli, Janesville, and some other towns that are real small. It's about like Knoxville in size and demographics.

2. Who is your companion and where is he from?
Elder Arbon from Grantsville, UT.

3. Where are you emailing from today? How does it rate compared to other email spots?
It's pretty nice. We are at the Waverly public library. They're all about the same.

4. What is your apartment like?
It's a two bedroom apartment with some room to move around in. It's pretty nice for a missionary apartment. It's got some stellar green carpet tho!

5. Is the ward or branch that you'll be serving in pretty strong? Do you have good member support?
It's a branch and it's strong. It's got about 80 active members per week in sacrament meeting!

6. You were fed pretty well in Waukee. Will it be the same in your new area?
Not as well because you can't beat perfect. I never missed a dinner in Waukee. Here it will be similair to Knoxville but that's ok. I can now slim down for real.

7. What was the best part of your week?
I'm not sure to be honest. Probably just getting to know some new people and being able to start over with a clean slate!

Q&A - April 18, 2012

1. You got a surprise visitor this week!! I'd love to hear all about it and what your reaction was!! He contacted me several weeks ago to see if he could get an address for you so even though I do love Google Earth, I was trying to do some sneaky undercover investigative work! :)
I will share that in the blog! It was awesome tho! I miss that kid!

2. Transfers! Agghhhh! How are you? Where will you land when the dust settles? It's crazy that it's that time again already!
I know right? I don't know a location yet but it will not be Waukee. We'll see tomorrow!

3. How about Elder Fenn? Where will he be?
He'll keep on keeping on in Waukee! I'm gonna miss him a lot!

4. Do you know who your new companion is yet or is that still to come?
I don't...all will be revealed at the transfer meeting thursday!

5. I'm anxious to hear about your baptism on Saturday!
Words cannot describe!

6. What are you most excited for in your new area?
It's always a good opportunity to leave some bad habits behind! I'm stoked for that!

7. What was the best part of your week?
oh man.....golf!!!!!!!!!

Monday, April 9, 2012

Q&A - April 9, 2012

1. I know that you got a letter from Robin about her baptism. Pretty awesome, huh? Anxious to hear your reaction!!!
Oh man...I could not be happier!! There is a part of me a little jealous that I am not there. I'm so glad you're going! Please take pictures with Robin before. I am super excited for her! I know she is doing the right things for the right reasons!

2. Next week is transfer week, right? What's your prediction?
I'll probably be getting the boot as much as I hate to say that! I'll probably go greenie bust and then set up to train again for my last two transfers!

3. Did things work out so you were able to have the other baptisms on Saturday?
We had one and we will be having the other on the 14th!

4. On a scale of 1-10, how trunky are you? (I'm sensing a little bit, which seems pretty natural to me, and just wondering how you are really doing?)
0. Not trunky at all. A little anxious but I only get to do this once in my life. I will not waste a minute being in the future rather than the present. My thoughts are that every missionary is a little trunky...those who push through that and work harder than ever are the strong ones. That's my goal!

5. Did you get a little Easter package in the mail? I've worried that I was too slow getting it off to you.
Not yet...but now I have something to look forward to going into the office today!

6. How did you celebrate Easter? Did you have an Easter dinner invitation?
It was so awesome! I will explain in detail in the letter but sufficeth me to say that I was sufficiently full of food!

7. How did your singing go at the fireside?
It went real well. I want to sing it with dad and some other guys when I get back. Maybe even a special musical number the day I speak when I get home. I'll sing the bass part dad!

8. What was your best moment of the week?
Baptism....you can't beat those!

9. What are you most looking forward to in the week ahead?
Baptism! How awesome is that to say for week past and week future!

Monday, April 2, 2012

Q&A - April 2, 2012

1. Which was your favorite talk in conference?
I loved a lot of them but Henry B Eyring's was pretty powerful. I love that guy!

2. Did you have anyone that came to watch conference with you?
We watched the Sunday afternoon session at the Nielsen's...other than that we watched all at the stake center and Ben Meier came with us! It was his first conference in 30 plus years and he loved it!

3. Is conference televised in Iowa or does everyone go to the church to watch?
It's on the internet so everyone just watches it from there but it's on the byu channel which most people have in their standard tv package now so most everyone except for us guys in shirts and ties watched it at home.

4. What are you most looking forward to in the week ahead?
Jeff's Baptism on Saturday! And I'm hoping Tina will get her letter and be baptized then as well!

Q&A - March 19, 2012

1. How is the weather in Iowa? We've all the sudden gotten winter again. Cass was supposed to have a golf tournament today out at Juniper Hills but we got an inch or two of snow overnight and I'm not sure whether or not they'll still have it or not. Maybe the sun will come out and burn it off and they'll just have a delayed start but who knows??
It's been 80 degrees and humid all week! Summer is here and here to stay I think. Trees are blooming, birds are chirping, and it's no suit coat weather!! =)

2. Speaking of golf, did you get to go last week? Is Brother Nielsen letting you use his clubs and everything? I'm sure you know that some of Dad's first rounds on a golf course were p-days in Iowa with his garage sale clubs and plaid knickers that he made from a pair of ugly pants that he found, probably at that same garage sale. :) I guess it's only appropriate that you get to spend some time on a course there! I hope it happens for you if it hasn't already!!
It's going to next week and probably the week after at a different country club! I don't know about the clubs..or the clothes for that matter. One of the courses I will be playing most likely is the site of one of the senior tour tournaments. Pretty awesome!

3. How was Zone Conference?
It was really good! I conducted the meeting and I got a lot of good inspiration for how to be better!

4. How was getting to see Elder Nielsen at the airport?
Oh man it was soo good! He's changed a lot! He gave a great talk on Sunday and went and taught with us Sunday night! It's great having him home!

5. Is everything falling in place for your big baptism day this Saturday?
Like it was meant to be! Things are going so well!

6. Are you healthy and happy?
Healthy...yes. Happy...more than ever.

Wednesday, March 7, 2012

Q&A - March 7, 2012

1. It's transfer week again! Where will you be landing? Still in Waukee or headed elsewhere?
I will be in Waukee for another six weeks with Elder Fenn. I guess I'm not the problem missionary. I get to stay with someone more than six weeks! =)

2. If you are leaving Waukee, who will be the hardest to say goodbye to?
Well we kinda did leave Waukee....I'll talk all about it in the letter.

3. You probably don't know yet who your new companion will be, do you?
Elder Fenn....it sounds like you guessed I would be outta here. =)

4. I've been a little curious about something that I see occasionally in your letters. You talk occasionally about board games or card games that you are playing. Do you play those just on P-Days or does President Jergensen allow for you guys to have a little down time in the evenings to play once in a while?
With the Nielsen's we played a lot between 9 and 10:30. Usually we don't play other than that.

5. What was the best, most positive thing that happened in the past week and a half?
So much that I could not limit it to one thing. If I did limit it to one, I think I would be robbing from the others.

Monday, February 27, 2012

Q&A - February 26, 2012

1. I'm anxious to hear about your return to Masa Lin's after fasting last week...
I'll make sure to include it in the email!

2. How many hours in a day on average do you spend actually tracting and knocking on doors?
About 1 if any. We try to avoid it at all costs because even in Preach My Gospel it says in reference to finding, "Everybody who has done missionary work knows there is a better way and that is through the members."

3. One word to describe your week...
Miraculous!

Tuesday, February 21, 2012

Q&A - February 21, 2012

1. How was your appointment last week with the Doc? What's the verdict on your ankle?
I am free from his care and the ugly boot for good! He would like me to wear a brace on my ankles when playing sports and wants me to do some exercises on it still. I still have some of the drawer effect where my ankle slides out of place but it's on track to mend as it should. Thank you all for your prayers. Miracles happen.

2. How is life with your companion?
We are doing great. We are tearing Waukee in half right now in terms of work. I love Elder Fenn. Good kid!

3. Do you have any investigators that you'll be baptizing soon? Or that at least look promising?
Oh just be patient for the email! Things are going so well!!

4. Did you make your bed this morning? Is that a habit you've acquired? :)
I have a bottom bunk so I have the easy job. I made my bed and Elder Fenn's bed today.

5. What was the craziest thing you experienced this past week?
Miracles. Miracles are crazy right?

6. What was your spiritual high for the week?
So many of them that I can't pick one. I will tell you all in the email tho.

Monday, February 6, 2012

Q&A - February 6, 2012

1. How are things with your new companion?
I love my new companion. He is younger so he is still reliant on the Lord and I love that! He isn't prideful. He is a great missionary. We work very well together. He is like an Elder Howard. We will get along great!

2. How were your teaching appointments with President Jergensen?
They went so well. I will make sure to note those in my email!

3. Was is hard to get any work done last night with the Superbowl happening? What did you do?
We went to someone's house who wasn't interested in football. Haha. It was a bit difficult finding that person but it was good.

4. It looks to me like it has decided to be winter again in Iowa. Do you have very much snow on the ground? Are you staying warm?
There is about 6-8 inches that showed up in 24 hours but I love it! I'm very warm. Those thermals you sent for Christmas are so nice! I love them! Even tho before I put on my dress pants it looks a lot like leggings/jeggings! =)

5. What was the highlight of your week?
I picked out a song on the piano that I haven't played in forever and it made my day. Highlight of my week tho is probably watching the spirit take control of a lesson. I'll explain in a bit...
